I love "Hunting Season" - and I think I'm probably the greatest wife ever because I rarely complain about Layne hunting all of the time (I try not to complain, but sometimes I just can't help it.) But when "Hunting Season" is over...it's project time at our house. So on Saturday Layne did some projects for me that I've been wanting to do.
I had seen this sign in a magazine and it was really small & they wanted $40 for it, and I showed it to Layne and I said - I can make that. So we went to the pasture and got some barn wood and I made this sign...I have one more I'm going to make but I ran out of time this weekend.

Cael wanted to pose by the picture - and yes, he's always in his underwear at our house..he's totally got a mind of his own!

Then when Layne & I went away for our Anniversary last summer we went to a place that had these Window Covers & I loved them. So we got some barn wood and Layne made these for all of my windows in our family room & kitchen... they look so good! I love my husband so much! It took up our whole Saturday but we finished them...well I need to put some rustic iron stars on there or something but for now they look pretty good.
And Cael had to pose again by our windows.

Cake Boss

So we love the TV show "Cake Boss" - and every time we watch it Layne says, "I could totally make a cake." Well if you know Layne at all he loves projects and he will figure out how to make something no matter what, and if you know me - you know I am not the best baker ok I don't bake at all very often...so Layne was on his own with this grand idea :) So we went and bought some cake stuff and he made his first cake...Red Velvet with butter-cream frosting - it was so good.

Then Cael told his dad he wanted to make his birthday cake - so we decided we needed to practice a little more before we make Cael's birthday cake so we made a cake yesterday for the Super Bowl...I did actually help on this one :) If you watch Cake Boss at all Buddy has a couple of guys in the bakery that do all of his running around and B*!ch work for him...that was me :) Just Kidding but here is our cake for our Super Bowl party last night. I seriously love my husband...he's so handy to have around!

Catching Up

So I was looking at my phone & found some pictures I hadn't put on here -

One Sunday Cael wanted to be Hiccup from "How To Train a Dragon" so he had his sword & shield but he needed a hat - so we made one out of tinfoil. Don't laugh at my art skills - he was freaking out and wanted one right now!! He's a dork, but we still love him & don't laugh at his clothes, he dresses himself.

Cael has also been into hunting with his dad - Layne went to Canada for a week goose hunting & Cael did not like that he left him, so whenever Layne goes around here, Cael is going too no matter what. It's kind of cute & Layne loves that he wants to go hunting with him. These are pics from their last 2 hunts last week.

Here is a picture of Layne & I in Vegas - I seriously can't believe how blessed I am to have these two crazy boys in my life and the friends and family that we have!!

Christmas Time

Wow - I haven't blogged for a while. Cael is so excited for Christmas, everyday he asks if it's Christmas yet, it's funny. What would we do without the threat of "Santa?" I love using - "If you don't talk nice, Santa won't come." or "If you don't clean up your mess, Santa won't come." I know it's mean, but it works!!
We went to Temple Square the other night - it was fun, but so cold! Cael had fun though, he loves the temple. To him Jesus lives in the Temple so he was kind of bummed we didn't go in it. And he is going on his mission to the Temple - which is fine with me, I don't think I could have him go very far away :)

While at the Visitor's Center a guy walked by us that looked just like Santa - and Cael grabbed me & said Santa is at the Temple - I said that is so cool - well the guy heard us and came over and shook Cael's hand and gave him a Candy Cane....oh man Cael loved it. Seriously kids make Christmas so much better - Cael is going to be so fun this year on Christmas morning! Layne & I are so excited!!

Halloween!!

I was trying to decide what Cael should be for Halloween and I had found a lot of great costume ideas - when I listed them off to him he told me he wanted to be a "Cop." I said, "don't you want be something different or scary?" And he said, "no I want to be a cop like dad!" So he was a cop for Halloween - I found this costume and then with Layne's aunt's help I got him all decked out as a Lehi Police Officer...I have to say he was so handsome in it and I'm pretty lucky to have 2 cute Lehi Police Officers.

Big Buck Down!!

So Layne and I went Deer hunting with my family last weekend - we saw some nice ones but we couldn't get close enough. I've killed little two points but I told Layne I wanted something bigger - so yesterday we took a horse ride to Ophir and as we came over this ridge we saw two really nice bucks - I knew by Layne's face when he jumped off of his horse that they were nice. So he told me which one to shoot and I nailed it - one shot!! I don't think either one of use realized how big it was until we hiked down to it - we were both so pumped!! It was so much fun!! There is nothing better than hunting with my sexy husband!!

We went hunting last night - Well actually we went for a 4-wheeler ride up to the towers up above West Canyon - it was so nice to get out, and Cael had a blast running around and looking for deer :)

Last night Layne took us Dove hunting in my dad's fields - oh wow we had a blast. Josh & Travis brought their girls and the kids just ran around like crazy. The doves were flying all over - but no one could seem to hit them - ok I couldn't hit them but the boys could :) It was still fun - I promise I make Cael bath but between the dirt road & the pizza they ate he looks like a dirty little boy!!

So I couldn't hit any flying doves so these other birds flew off of the field and I nailed one of those instead - I don't know who was more shocked me or Layne!!

No we didn't die - I seriously took the summer off - and I haven't been on the computer from the end of June until now and school is starting and it sucks!! We had such a great summer - Cael took swimming lessons, gymnastics, we played, camped and just hung out. It has been great!! Layne has seriously worked his butt off on our yard - pictures to come when it's all finished! Here are some pics of our recent hunting trip to Fairview - we went with Brooke, Josh, Macee & Tyce and Cael had a blast...thank goodness we are going again next weekend because he was so mad we had to come home - so was Layne :)

Cael's First 4-H Practice

So our family decided that since we have so many grandkids that we should have our own 4-H and because the rules at the real 4-H have changed and they were making all of the kids wear helmets this year....so we all figured we could teach the kids what they needed to know about riding horses. So every Monday night we meet and Grandma & Grandpa's for 4-H unless the weather is bad :) Cael had a blast, we all share horses, and we all had dinner. 11 out of the 12 grandkids rode and it was so fun!

Sand Hollow - Spring Break

For Spring Break we went to Sand Hollow with Layne's Sisters and we had a blast!! Cael played his guts out and it was seriously the best camping! We played in the water, sand & went 4-wheeling - and not to mention the weather was beautiful!! Here are some pics of our fun!!

I can't believe Cael is 3 today!! He is growing up so fast, and he seriously gets cuter everyday! He totally got spoiled from everybody this birthday. He had 2 parties and had a blast having all of his cousins there. His new phrase that he says to Layne & I is, "that's not a problem is it?" or "just leave me alone for a minute." He acts like he's 15, I don't know what I'll do when he really is. There is nothing greater though than having him say every morning, "I love you mom." or "have a good day at work." Oh wow, I love him! - he is getting so big! So here are some pics of his birthday fun!

Itty Bitty Ball

I signed Cael up for Itty Bitty Ball at the Legacy Center - I really did it so he could go run around for an hour...he loved it. They had their own little Buzz Light Year team and they got to play football,baseball, basketball, soccer & volleyball - he wasn't into volleyball but he loved football & baseball day. He seriously had a blast!

We went last night to the BYU/San Diego Game...it was so good! We had a blast with the fam and I seriously love watching Jimmer Fredette - he is unreal! My brothers came a little too prepared to cheer on BYU - they took the little boy's football helmets and wore them - it was great!

So Layne went to Costco with me and we had to buy diapers - he flipped at the price & I started to laugh because we have been spending that much money on diapers for 2 years. But he said enough - so Cael has been put in to Potty Training Boot Camp with his dad - and Cael keeps telling us when he's trying to pee that it's "not working." So he has good days and bad days but his nazi dad is determined to make him potty trained...So here are some pics of his experience so far...They are so cute!

The Farm

On Saturday Cael & I went to my parent's house and dad had just had some baby calves - so we went in the calving shed and checked on them, Cael & Grandpa Stan went over to look at the one...Cael was a little nervous - we were trying to get him to hug it or give it a kiss but this was as close as he would get. Then he got to go feed the cows with Grandpa, Shelby, and Uncle Tom - he loved it!!

He had a blast on Christmas Eve & Santa brought him a gun which he loves and then on Christmas he got a farm set with a combine, tractors, trailers, and trucks - just like Grandpa Stan's. He was spoiled this year by both grandparents and so were we!!

Over the weekend my Aunt Kellie asked us to take their family pictures - so we went down to my dad's field and took their pictures. I feel bad - I'm not very good at that, but they turned out pretty good. Cael loves the kids and he really thinks he is a part of Kellie Jo's family so they had a family picture with Chopper -

I know he looks like a homeless kid but that's what he wanted to wear that day. I mean how more redneck can you get - ugly cowboy hat (hopefully Santa brings him a new one), his fishing vest & then his camo coat & thank goodness you can't see them but he has some snow boots that look just like Napoleon Dynamite - I always said my kid would be dressed nice but lately it's just not worth the fight :)

We went to Disneyland over Thanksgiving and it was so much fun! We had been telling Cael for 6 months that we were going - but he couldn't go if he kept on picking his nose...I know we're bad but it actually worked for a while! The first day we got there we hit all of the kids rides and Cael loved BUZZ!! Actually I think Layne did too - because he started to get a little competitive with his shooting score! It was so great to have my family there! We had a blast with all of the kids - Cael was such a good kid too! Here are some of our pictures...

Bugs Life - was the funniest - Cael didn't like the 3D movie - so he started to cry, but he wouldn't take the glasses off! He kept on saying, "no, I need these" - he didn't realize that the stuff would stop scaring him if he took them off!

He was so excited to see Goofy, Pluto & Minnie - he thought it was pretty awesome that Minnie Mouse gave him a kiss

Cael had no idea who the princesses were - we don't have those shows at our house :) But he loved the Pixar Parade...when it finished he said, "let's do that again!"

Layne & Cael made these awesome cars - Cael wanted a woowoo truck (fire truck) & a woowoo car (police car) so at this store you could make them...I think Layne liked it more but it was pretty fun! The bottom pictures are Cael jumping on the bed in our hotel...he would get so excited in the mornings when he knew we were going to Disneyland!!

Grandma Jeri had a full schedule for us on Sunday night - we ate dinner, had our annual pie competition (which by the way Layne got his butt handed to him this year) His pies did not turn out right - he bought the wrong kind of pudding - instead of the instant he bought the cook - and they never did set up :) They were disgusting!

Cael loved making his gingerbread house...everyone's was so nice and pretty but Cael was having a blast. We had 3 Santa's on the house, 1 Santa in the house, and 1 Santa outside in the yard....that way Cael could get lots of toys :) He is so stinkin' cute!

We had a great weekend - it was the deer hunt (pictures to come soon) and then we went to Layne's grandparents Halloween party - the kids were so cute. Then his grandma Jeri let the boys make sugar cookies...she has a lot more patience than I do.
Cael had a blast though - then we went to the other side of the family to carve pumpkins...Layne loves this - he always has to find a "cool one" and Cael thought it was pretty cool to play with the 'sharps' which translates to 'knives'.

Duck Hunting

Layne took Cael duck hunting Saturday night - which was so great because I had a root canal and was throwing up :) They went with Travis and his little girls, Taryn, Jada & Taya and then Josh took his little girl Macee. Cael had a blast in the boat - all he told me was, "me dad went duck hunting in the boat and his gun broke." Ya and Layne's gun did break - when he went to shoot the first duck - this is what happened to the barrel. It's so dang funny...so Layne is taking donations for a new shotgun...if anyone wants to help!!

I have never "canned" anything in my entire life - but I've been trying to be a better mother & wife - and I guess that helps my qualifications! Layne's Sister Shelly & mom were going to can salsa so we joined in last night. This is how domestic I'm becoming - I even had half a bucket of tomatoes from my garden to donate :) Anyways, I have to admit it wasn't that bad - but we all just pitched in and got it done! Even Layne helped - for a minute. Thanks Jeri!

Dove Hunt

Cael got to go on his first dove hunt yesterday! Layne worked all night and then got up and took Cael Dove hunting. If you know Layne he doesn't care if he loses sleep when it comes to hunting. Cael had a blast - they only got 2 but Cael would take his bb gun and go shoot them on the ground(he thinks his gun is loaded)

We have been finishing up our remodeling & I wanted to clean the tile grout in my kitchen. It was disgusting...but I had heard all of these ideas like toothpaste, letting coke sit on it for a while so the other night Layne & I put Cael to bed and decided to try out all of our cleaning products :) So we did an experiment - we put them all down & let them sit and then we wiped them up to see which one won....

And the Winner is...

It works great - I just put it on the grout - put some water on my brush & Waala!! It's all clean & resealed!! I know we are dorks but it's so nice to finally have a clean house...we have been in a mess for way too long!

Here are some pics of our entry way...that is finally done! It use to open up to the living room but now it's all closed off and looks awesome! We get carpet next week in our family room & then we will be all done!!

Our bedroom is Finally Done!! I finished painting it today!! I love our house all remodeled but wow what a project - now all we have to do is the family room & kitchen and then maybe we can get back to normal! I just wanted to post some pics of our bedroom, I seriously love my husband - he did such a great job and he has worked his butt off for me. He's amazing! And after 6 years of marriage (tomorrow) I still laugh at his stupid jokes, and get excited when he calls...I'm so freakin' lucky to have him as my husband!!

I know it's July but I had to put these on here...Cael was in the stock parade with his cousins Will & Owen - he rode Cindy the pony and Layne won the dad of the year award by taking him down the parade route. He seriously looked so handsome in his cowboy hat and chaps but he got to main street and kept whining, "dad I need you..." so Layne ended up holding Cael and pulling Cindy...by the time they got to the rodeo grounds they had both had it & Layne did not want the dad of the year award ever again :) But Cael had a blast and he looked cute - so that's all that matters!! Thanks Layne!!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of you great Mother's but I seriously had the best day ever. My wonderful husband and amazing 2 year old have put our house in reconstruction mode! Layne has added a wall into our living room and that will now be our master bedroom with a fire place & a walk in closet that he has made for me! Then he has started to knock out a wall in our family room to make our family room/kitchen bigger...I seriously didn't know I married Bob the Builder but he is amazing & it looks so good! I think we are almost done with our bedroom, I just have to finish painting! I think Layne would get a lot more done if he didn't have Cael on his days off but Cael just grabs the same tool and goes to work along side his dad...it's so stinkin' cute!

And The Award Goes To...

Layne and I won Parents of the Year Award this weekend...we went camping out by Simpson Springs which was beautiful and so much fun. We were sitting by DeAnne & Casey's trailer talking when Cael walked over to play in the dirt, he had been such a good boy (He Loves Camping!) When all of a sudden someone said, Cael's in the fire pit! We had started a fire that morning but by lunch it had died but the coals were still hot. Cael had gone in after one of his little rakes because it fell in the pit - when he picked up the rake he picked up some coals, and then he fell to his knees. I was seriously sick - I hate fires anyways and we were sitting right there! He wouldn't let us take pictures of it or even look at it but finally the next day he let his Uncle Casey take some...he loves him! Anyways it is a huge blister on his palm and that is it...we are so lucky he didn't get burned anywhere else. He is so tough too, he hasn't even complained about it. All he says is when you say show me your hand - hot mom, it's hot mom.

My little man turned 2 yesterday! I can't believe it's been two years already...he has gotten so big! If you ask him he's 4 but we had a blast celebrating his birthday. On Sunday he got to celebrate with his cousin Will they are 3 days apart and they were so cute. Will gave Cael a tractor and he hasn't stopped playing with it for two days! Then last night we had Layne's family over to celebrate it was so great to have everyone there, Cael got too many toys & was totally spoiled! But I guess that's the perks of being our only child!! Layne & I seriously love this stinkin' kid to death, he is so much fun and I can't imagine our life without him - we were so boring!! Happy Birthday Chopper!

I bought a wagon to go in our yard and he loves to sit on it and drive the horses...every night we have to say prayers and watch Lonesome Dove before we go to bed and he thinks he's Gus in the wagon it's so stinkin' cute.

Layne & Cael have spending a lot of time together since I'm at work so they went to IFA and Cael saw the baby chicks and told his dad , "Chicks home dad"...so the Chick's came home! We have 4 baby chicks in our garage and Cael has to check on them every 5 minutes, it's been really cute to see him take care of his chickens! Big Fish Lies

Layne has been ice fishing three times in the last week and every time he comes home he has caught so many fish and had so much fun...so we went on a date Friday night to Deer Creek fishing, and he lies! We didn't even get a bite! But it was still fun to be in the ice shack with him and just hang out for the night!

Well it's official, I am starting a new job February 1! There was an English opening at Pleasant Grove High School that I thought, I'll go interview for it and practice so then when I want to go back for next year I'll kind of be ready....well they offered me the job! Which I am so excited for but kind of sad too, I love teaching preschool & I love the kids but I need to go back to work full time too. So I am teaching 10th & 11th grade English and I went yesterday to meet with the English Department and see my classroom....oh I have a lot to do to get ready in one week! So while I was gone Layne & Cael took naps & then babysat each other...and when I got home these were the pictures I got to see! I don't know if me going to work full time is a good idea but Cael is going to love spending more time with his dad because he gets to do whatever he wants!! Like eat out of the Peanut Butter Jar! I love my two boys!

I haven't even done his first birthday & he is going to be 2 in March!! Cael has been into the 101 Dalmatians movie - but it has to be the real dogs, not the cartoon. Every morning I go in to get him from his crib and he says doggies mom, puppies mom. Pongo & Perdy take off running during the first of the movie and Roger & Anita are yelling at them.....well so does Cael! He yells PONGO, easy PONGO!!! It is so stinking funny, I can't believe how smart he is getting, he repeats everything he hears now which means he is also starting to talk like his dad and he keeps saying S*@! We had Cookie Night at our house last Sunday so my whole family could get together for Layne's birthday. So Saturday night we decided to make our cookies, Cael wanted to help so I put him on his own chair and gave him his own bowl of cookie dough and some measuring spoons and he was in heaven! Summer is over! Now it's back to work! Our life during the fall months...Layne goes to work - then he switches schedules every 2 months and then he goes hunting...(that is where he is now for 5 days) I have never seen him so excited for a hunt in my whole life so thanks Josh & Travis for going with him on the muzzle loader! I have started preschool and Cael is just growing tall, tall, tall! He is getting so big and he talks non-stop! He has a few favorite words he says now----side (outside), love you daddy (which he tells everybody), thank you daddy (even if daddy isn't around) Shelby (his cousin) Cashe (Cash our dog) Roxie (our other dog), bumpa (grandpa), and mama (grandma) and yes he has forgotten how to say Mommy - I am now daddy! He loves his dad, and that is all he talks about all day long!

We have finally gotten settled in our new house, with no yard but we are working on it slowly...here are some in the middle pictures of our huge project. We are hoping by next summer to have some grass!!!

One thing I have decided that I am good at well not good at but I do it all of the time - is L*A*U*N*D*R*Y!!! And even better than that - Cael loves to help me. I fold the clothes - he pulls them off of the couch or bed and unfolds them!! And now this week he has even been helping me put clothes from the washer into the dryer....and when I got back from putting some clothes away this is what I found!!

When I taught middle school I tried to read a lot - so I could stay up with my students but now teaching preschool & having a 1 1/2 year old I haven't been reading very much...but I have over the summer finished some books & I have decided that I need to read more...maybe that can be another hobby of mine instead of changing diapers, fixing chicken nuggets, doing laundry, and sometimes going shopping! So here are the latest and greatest books that I have read - these are the ones that I would recommend, they were great! I love books that I can finish in 2 days - that's when you know they are good!

I am starting this book now - so hopefully it's as good as the others.

We bought a new house!! Yeah for us - we have slowly been cleaning it and Layne has been working on the yard, well because there isn't one yet. Cael loves to help his dad and so today they worked on putting up our mailbox - while Layne was getting the mailbox out of the truck Cael decided to see if Layne's hole was big enough.....Here is what happened

He was stuck in the hole & loved it! He just sat there and laughed, we're not sure how he got in - I'm just glad he went in feet first & not head first!

Here is another picture of Cael working outside in the yard, at first he wasn't too sure about the backhoe but when he finally got in and rode with his Uncle Josh, we couldn't get him out. He loved it!

This weekend the whole Larsen fam went to the ZOO, it was a blast we had everyone there and the kids loved it. I think I enjoyed watching all of the people more than seeing the animals...there are some sights out there when it comes to people!! Cael had a blast but I think he enjoyed just being outside and the food a lot more than seeing the animals.

We just got home from our annual Turkey Hunt with the Larsen fam at Elkridge. It was so great - and I loved the weather! Cael had a blast playing in the dirt all day with his cousins and I sat in my chair and read a book (which I haven't done since I had Cael) and then we went Turkey Hunting of course! Brooke, Josh, & Macee came with us this year and it was so great (Macee is so stinkin' cute), Josh got a turkey it was so cool and Layne had a chance but he got a little excited and missed! Oh well, it was still fun and nice to get back out camping again!

So Layne snores - and he works really hard so I can't complain but holy crap! I'm sitting on the couch (sleeping out here tonight) thinking WOW how can someone snore so much?! I roll him on his side... he snores, I roll him on his stomach....he snores, I've even been so mean as to tickle the bottoms of his feet....he still snores!
Layne could seriously sleep in a corner standing up - and for those of you who know Layne, you totally understand. He could sleep through anything! I guess I'm jealous because I'm the worst sleeper lately....as you can tell I'm up blogging at 11:30 - weird I know. Cael loves to play with my ChapStick but today I decided to try and teach him how to spit it out so it would fly across the room. Our two labs were put in the same kennel because Layne didn't want them to get cold....well they didn't...they stayed nice and warm and together!! Anyways we had lab puppies and they are so stinking cute. We have two females and five males we have three sold but all of the others are up for grab - we cannot keep anymore dogs, I get way too attached to them and Cael Loves them! He loves to pull their ears, that's the first thing he goes for but now they are getting pretty big and they were all over him yesterday - it was so funny!

We just got back from a family vacation in the Eastern Caribbean - it was so great! My mom & dad took all of the kids on a cruise and it was so fun. I do have to admit that I missed Cael but it was good for him to go stay with Grandma Jeri & Grandpa Dean! THANKS! He actually has become a spoiled little brat because of grandma so now his dad is retraining him!! But like he's not spoiled at our house. We left out of Miami and went to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten it was beautiful, the beaches were awesome, and the shopping, oh the shopping, it was so great!!! Thanks Mom & Dad! I really can't believe that Cael is 10 months actually he's almost 11 months. It's amazing how being pregnant goes on and on and on, then you get them here and it goes by so fast!! We do have big news though....Cael can finally crawl!! He is all over the place and its so fun, it's like having a little puppy in the house. It's Official...

I just thought I would tell everyone that it is definitely official, Layne and I are officially the kind of parents we said we would never be! I never thought that I would have a kid that loved a movie or show so much that he will stop crying if you turn it on. Cael loves SHREK (the 1st one) he knows the difference and he loves Sesame Street, mostly the muppets. I know it's weird and kind of creepy but it's true, everyday he sits in his high chair with a pickle (yes a pickle) and he watches Big Bird & Elmo dance around, he loves it and it is the only way I can get anything done! Shrek & Donkey are his sick & nighttime friends, when we are up at night for some reason, which happens more often now than when he was a baby, we turn on Shrek and we can lay on the couch and snuggle and he is good to go.

So I have officially hit the crazy mom lifestyle where I am posting a picture of Shrek & Big Bird because they give me 20 minutes to shower and get dressed!!

Gingerbread Houses

Every year at Layne's moms house we build gingerbread houses, this year we had three babies who wanted to help too, well not really but Cael wanted to eat the candy!

So each couple gets to build a house and I decided that next year I want my own house because Layne and I didn't build ours too well (our roof caved in) and we both blamed each other. I can't imagine really building a house together - we would be in a mess!

I thought for sure that Cael would love the frosting but he really wasn't really into it, he would rather each cheerios!

Cael has two cousins, Brylee & Hunter that are the same age as him and he loves to play with them! Here are some pictures of the three of them together, the other two can crawl so they leave Cael in the dust but they're pretty good at coming back to play with him. For the last two weeks Cael's cousin Shelby has come over on Monday night to play with Cael - they play preschool, and she reads to him and he loves every minute of it. So tonight Lisa, Morgan & Shelby came over and had dinner and played with Cael -I think I love it more because I clean my house while Shelby entertains Cael, it's fantastic!! So tonight Cael thought he would help Aunt Lisa out on her laptop - he is the happiest little boy, he made me laugh all day to day, everytime I looked at him he would laugh and smile at me - how do you not love that??

I had a tag this year but we didn't go hunting until last Thursday - Layne went up on the mountain with the boys on the opening Saturday and Cael and I stayed back at camp. So Layne took me out and we hadn't even unloaded the 4-wheeler and he spotted some deer - he can spot deer anywhere it's amazing. We found this two point and he got me all set up to shoot and I missed! A couple of weeks ago we were at church teaching our Sunday School class and Cael started to do this sniffing thing with his nose - don't ask me where he got it from but it is so funny! At first he would only do it sporadically but now we laugh at him when he does it so he does it all of the time, he's our little entertainer! The movie clip isn't very long, but it is so funny - it took me a minute to get him to do it but you will seriously laugh out loud when you see his new trick!

I decided this October that Layne & I would watch one scary movie every week to get us into the mood for Halloween. Layne thought I was crazy but there are a lot of classics that need to be watched like Halloween with Michael Myers, Friday the 13th, Psycho, Saw, and there are a lot of new movies that I haven't seen. So last night we went to bed and started to watch a scary movie called "Dead Silence" it was about this ventriloquist doll that came to life (sort of) but people were being killed whenever it was around. Anyways we're laying in bed and I'm kind of freaking out because it was starting to get creepy , they were in a morgue- and my bodyguard (Layne) is dead asleep! I hit him in the guts and told him to wake up so we could finish the movie - I was not watching it alone! So we kept on watching and then I hear this bear growling and Layne is asleep again! So all in all I had to turn the movie off because I can't watch it in the dark all by myself and our new family tradition has officially failed because I am not watching these movies alone. (Yes I'm a baby but no normal person can like watching creepy movies by themselves!) I don't care what you say - that doll is freaky! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Mascot Bowl

Cael & I went to the Mascot Bowl at the high school last week, we didn't really go for the football game. They were honoring Captain Terry at the beginning of the game and so all of the police officers were asked to be there, so we went to watch Layne. But while there we got our picture taken with the Denver Broncos mascot - because according to Layne they're the best!

It was so great to see all of the police officers walk out onto the field together, I don't think a lot of people realize how much the police department does for the community. They see a lot of problems in Lehi and they work the most awful hours in the world but their job is to keep Lehi safe, and for that I'm greatful. We have been so blessed being on the police department, it's like one big family and Layne has been able to work with some awesome officers.

Cael is 6 Months!

Cael turned 6 months on the 29th and I seriously can't believe it. We went yesterday to the doctor for his checkup and to get shots (oh man he was so mad at the nurses!) He weighed 21 pounds and is 28 inches long - he is such a big boy!! Who would have ever thought that our 2 week early, sick baby who had to be in intensive care would turn out to be such a bruiser! We have been so blessed, he's been so healthy and he is the happiest baby! If he has a nap & a full belly he's good to go. Here are some pictures of my little cowboy!!

Cael & Layne -- Taking a Nap Together

I don't know why but lately during Cael's naps he has to cover his head - it is the funniest thing. I have to go in after he's asleep and move the blanket to make sure he doesn't suffocate - I love getting him out of his crib every morning he is always talking & laughing, and you always get a huge smile. It just starts the day off so well and you never know what new thing he'll do that day, I never realized how much a mom could love their baby until I had Cael, he is such a cute boy!

On Layne's side of the family there have been six babies born with in the last year! It was Grandma Holme's 70th Birthday Party the other night so we had all of the babies there and took their pictures - it was so cute & funny trying to get all of them to look at the same time. Cael just sat there and laughed - he is the happiest baby!

Opher Loop

Last night Layne and I went with John & Lacy, and Shawn Lewis on a horse ride and took the Opher Loop. It was beautiful - the leaves are changing colors and the Elk were going crazy! Layne would bugle on his elk call and the bulls would go nuts, we saw a ton of elk. I've never been on this horse ride and it was so great, we had a great time!!

Antelope at the Boulders

After six years of putting in for Antelope I finally drew out - so Layne & I went down with his parents to the Boulder Mountains, past Loa & Bicknell (yes that is a town and there is nothing in it but hay fields) this place was amazing just sagebrush every where but it was so fun!

Layne spotted this antelope with seven does and we watched them feed and I wanted to kill something so we went after it. It was awesome - and thanks to my amazing husband as my guide - we got 300 yards from it and I killed it!

Cael was in the truck with Grandma Jeri so they came down and Cael got to see the Antelope - he is such a good hunter even in his pajamas!!

After the hunt we camped there until Sunday with Brooke, Josh & Macee and their dog Sammy (which got very attached to Layne)

Dove Hunt

If you can't tell we are a hunting family - that is what we do. On Labor Day the Dove Hunt opened so Layne took me out that night. It was so much fun, we went with Josh, David & Bart Berry. Those guys are hilarious, Gary & Tracy came out too - it was a lot of fun. I think we missed more birds than we killed but it was still a blast.

Layne's Uncle Bart just kept on telling us stories about the good old days and we just kept on laughing. We tried so hard to sneak up on the doves when they landed so it would be an easier shot (ya that didn't work)But here are some pictures of our success

Swiss Days

We just got back from Swiss Days and I have never seen so many people in my entire life. Every year we go on Friday night with the husbands and then go to dinner. There were never that many people when we went. We decided to go the girls this time and we left Lehi at 10am (big mistake). We laughed about the people who get up at 6am and wait for the booths to open, but when we arrived I wish we would have gotten up earlier - it was madness!!! Women shopping all over the place, we took Cael too (he's such a good shopper) but we had my big running stroller and luckily we had that because we would push Cael through first and make a little pathway for ourselves - I am still in amazement at the chaotic mass of women that were at Swiss Days!! It was fun though - I bought some cute jewelry and a new diaper bag/purse and Cael a new hat!

He has bad ears so we thought we better buy him a good hat for this winter and for all of our Hunting Trips - so this is his new coon huntin' hat - so he can go with his dad!!

Will Hunt For Food

Last weekend was the Archery Deer Hunt - we went to Beaver and spent 4 days there so Layne could kill a deer! I have to honestly say that I'm not a huge fan of deer meat so when we didn't bring anything home I wasn't too upset, but I love to go camping with our family and friends. It was great most of Layne's family was there and Kyle & Layth Christofferson came for a few days. We had a blast and Kyle was the big man because he actually killed a deer with his bow!

I Finally Made a Blog

I finally did it - I created a blog! Everyone seems to have one but us so I decided that the Larsen Family needed one. I love looking at everyone's blogs - I haven't seen some people for ages but it's nice to see what everyone is up to. We thought it would be fun to put our family pictures on and let everyone see Cael grow up - he's not even a baby any more to us - he's 5 months old and he's changed so much!!
